I think the sentiment is a wee misguided, I don't agree with it, and I'd never buy the shirt, but I've gotta say it's a very well done graphic and the monochromatic color scheme and shirt color choice work really well together. Might want to fix up his incredibly awkwardly oriented right hand, though.

indeed, a great graphic, though i don't understand the significance of the elephant. what does GOP stand for?
Donniesaur
   Donniesaur on Jun 12 '05
GOP = Grand Old Party. The Elephant is the sign of the Republican party. The Donkey is the Democratic party symbol.

too political. Nice design tho.

I completely agree with Donniesaur on this one. Heavy political themes seem very out of place on Threadless, and tend not to score too well.

The elephant symbol is awesome, though.

I like this shirt design al ot. You nailed the mentality of this administration without being too offensive. I also like the way you maintain the feel of those old "commi propoganda" posters while adding a modern touch. I'd proudly wear this shirt and so would several of my friends.

I dunno, I think political messages are important and integral to tshirt design. From the first day people started wearing messages on their frocks, designs on shirts send ideological messages

You do realize that shirts that depict anti-meat ('I don't eat Duck' , 'I don't eat pussy', Anti-Frankenfoods, images depicting violence, messages etc are political right? This shirt happens to focus on organized crime.. i mean politics.

Well presented message, the execution could be better. I don't like the pulpit shadow at all. GWB's right hand seems very awkward

i agreee with a lot of what has been said already. i think the graphic is excellent, you obviously have a lot of talent and i hope to see a lot more from you, the right hand is awkward and could use some touch ups, however. i also really enjoy the entire concept of the shirt, and i hope it gets printed. i wouldn't wear one myself, but if i saw someone wearing this shirt it would make my day.

I think that if you can incorporate soomething meaningfull into your design all the more power to you. However you are running a real risk cause nobody's gonna vote for your shirt if they disagree with your message. It's a gamble really.

I happen to agree with your message, but I think that you are running a real risk here. In order for this shirt to work people need to think Republican (or Bush) and then think Nazi (or Hitler

BUT

because of the small size of both bush's face and the GOP symbol I think that when people first look at this shirt the first thing they will think is Nazi (or Hitler) and then they will be so pissed off at you that they wont look closer and you'll end up with a broken bottle over your head.

this shirt is dangerous.

Look, I hate the current administration as much as the next liberal, but to compare Bush to Hitler is totally disrespectful to Holocaust victims and Jews in general. Bush is no Hitler, dude.

Just look at all this dialog this design has sparked up. I think this shirt needs to be printed just because of the emotions it inspires. I voted for Nader just cause he was a third party. It's always choose between Democrats or Republicans. Thats like.. McDonalds or Burger King. I say eat tacos.

Except for the hands, I'm liking the design but disagree with the message. I would really like to see something a bit more subtle. Put the elephant symbol on a red t-shirt, and you have me.

I am anti-Nazi. People who saw me in this shirt would think I am pro-Nazi. Not good. Besides, there are ways to get a political message across without dropping anvils on everyone's head.

Thanks for clearly summing up what is wrong with young people today.

1. If you think likening Hitler or the Nazi Party to (a)George Bush (b)the Republican Party (c)the Christian church (d)all of the above is not being "too offensive," you need to do a LOT more reading and a LOT more traveling. I'd love to hear you give your rationale to a holocaust victim.

2. "'Commi propaganda' posters" are called "Constructivist" posters, and the art style was prevalent even in America during WWI/II. Any by the way, Communism has nothing to do with Hitler or Nazis... and it CERTAINLY has nothing to do with Christianity (organized religion was illegal in many Communist regimes).

3. Instead of you and your friends buying this shirt, why not save the money and buy a clue.

Sorry for the rant, but for what it's worth I like the execution of the design. Try to make something happy next time.

to zerodette:

no one would think you were pro-nazi unless you wore this shirt and had a W'04 sticker on your car at the same time. its pretty damn clear its just an image that is attempting to make bush seem hitlerish, which i believe he is in some ways.

and so does my german grandmother who happened to have met hitler when she was 16.

good job dubpapa, but probably the wrong forum to submit it in.

I'd like for you to imagine what it woud be like if he was anyhting like Hitler. You wouldn't be able to hang out on this cool website and make a ton of cash by creating clever little T-shirt designs all day. Stop whining and move on.

It's a well done illlustration, nice colors, but seriously, get a clue.

Very powerfull image. Makes me want to type something.

It's important to question the ethics of forcing a form of government on someone, even if it's labeld "freedom"...

...very thought provoking image. Look how many differant emotions are on this thread. I don't think the association with nazis or hitler is valid... I think if anything... you're saying Hitler wasn't all that bad cause he was kinda like ol' W. Saddam was much more like Hitler....

Eh, I'm sick of tired political messages. Very nice design, very offensive shirt (to the GOP, which is about half of America, and to Christians, which are just about all the rest as well). Try something less offensive next time?

I like it, though I wouldn't wear it becuase honestly I'd have to explain it to too many people and it would get tiring.

I personally don't believe it's very offensive, but everyone has different levels of what offends them. However, the comparison of Bush to Hilter is something that has been being done for four years now, guys, so don't act so surprised. Though for those of you bitching about it, I'd suggest a simple google search: http://www.google.com/search?q=bush+hitler There are many examples of their similarities. I'm not going to preach though.

I think the message of this shirt is slightly unclear. While it is obvious you are comparing bush to Hitler, and connecting the Republican party to the Christian Church, what exactly are you saying about that? Besides for it being bad -- yeah hitler was a horrible man and yeah religion mixed with politics is something we want to avoid -- what is the real meaning behind the tee? I feel like words might actually be benefitial to this shirt.

I think it is a good design and I agree that political shirts are very important, but I think you'd do better to submit this else where because generally they don't go over well on threadless.

BEAUTIFUL DESIGN, HYPNOTIC COLORS, THIS IS SO CLOSE TO BEING SOMETHING SO GREAT, NEXT TIME THOUGH, DON'T GO FOR THE EASY OUT BY USING RELIGION, POLITICS, OR SHRUBERY. THIS SHIRT SPEAKS LOUDLY BUT DOESN'T SAY ANYTHING. WHISPER AND THEY WILL LISTEN CLOSELY.

I don't expect all who see this to like it, obviously. I wanted to convey the fact that first we are being lied to and second I'm scared. We are being decieved to such a level that it make me swoon to see how oblivious most are to our current situation, and how helpless I feel over it.

To those who percieve this as a shot at the Christina chuch. I was actually attempting to convey how the the GOP and yes, W, use the chuch and his redundant saying of "God Bless America" to pull on the Heartstrings of Americans into believing that standing behind him is morally right. This is why the sinister elephant is supported by the cross.

Whatever it takes to win the masses..... sound like someone from our History.

I could go on, endlessly, but really... why waste your time reading this and my time typing. I'll just say, I am glad that I had the chance to ruffle some of your feathers, I hope that you won't take this as a direct insult to you or your beliefs. We have to recognize the threat that we all face in this world, and stop having our governments make enemies faster than they can defeat them. Alliances are being made, lines are being drawn and we all face the chance of the front line coming to us this time.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to critique, I appreciate your consideration.
