I like this site, Threadless.com.... because it's got a lot of original designs and ideas. This is far from original. Looks sharp, don't get me wrong, but come on man.

cute

0-5 scale

purpose 5: good message

pride: 1 this shirt makes me want to buy a gay pride shirt

color 3: actually simple, good

originality: 1 used two symbols and a heart

Stop Drop & Roll on Jun 10 '05
I don't like the colours, the design seems to be ten a penny.

How about two guys holding hands? Or two girls?

esc0524 on Jun 10 '05
Heterosexual love makes me sick. Quit flaunting your perverted lifestyle.

In all seriousness, a better message/version might be several hearts w/different combinations -- guy/guy, girl/girl, singles, trannies...

buckithed on Jun 10 '05
Yeah I agree, boy/girl love is boring and predictible. Let's see something different.

hey guys... when i designed the shirt i guess i wasnt to concerned with being politically correct. And no, i had never seen the japanese shirt. Plus who in the hell wants to wear somethign that says toilet love?

In the direction i was going, I wanted to treat them more as characters, not as symbols for men and women. I tried to imply that in my first comment.

I think alot of threadless submissions try too hard to be over the top, and original.

Its about making t-shirts people will wear. I personally am not one to wear things with purpose in mind that it be found offensive to others.

jazzy_jay on Jun 10 '05
whoa...did Phylo actually say:

'I think alot of threadless submissions try too hard to be over the top, and original.' ?

so threadless submissions should stop trying to be original? please help me to understand this logic.

btw, your shirt is in complete agreement with your statement.
Phylo
Phylo on Jun 10 '05
jazzy jay,

I in no way want to try to undermine the imporatnace of originality, even if my submission isnt the most orignal ever. What i tried to say in that clause was not that originality is bad, but rather, originality is not equivalent to a good t-shirt by default. I'm sure you've scored submissions that were very original, but either were poorly composed or just to bizzare to identify with. Resulting in a low score.

im not trying to start a flame war by any means

rcmann on Jun 13 '05
i like the aesthetic, but with the prevalence of "marriage=man+woman" bumper stickers down here in the south, i wouldn't wear it for fear of the implications. like esco524 said, though, if other couples were also in hearts on the shirt, i'd definitely get one.
Phylo
Phylo on Jun 13 '05
Like i said earlier, i was creating with idea these weren't symbols for man and woman, but characters. There's no way to really show that in the shirt's design though, so i can defintley see where you guys are coming from.

Yet, rcmann, at the same time i cant believe you wouldn't be afraid to wear a man+man one or a woman+woman one, for fear of "implications". Especially if there are as many people running around with those bumper stickers as you say.

I'll repeat myself again by saying ," im not trying to start a flame war. "

I like it. It´s simple. People usually do everything they can to be different. So, in a way, by doing something "cliche," it´s different. Very good.

It's cute but boring. I'd see something like this in the mall. Totally NOT what threadless.com is about.
joooleee
joooleee on Jun 15 '05
I it a lot, but the image should be moved down a little bit and slightly left a little bit...since the "heart" is anatomically centered-left. I think the image looks awkward being so close to the neckline. I'd buy it!
stirsticks' prediction
stirsticks' prediction on Jun 15 '05
The shape of the heart makes it look like there should be an extension from the very bottom of it, but there is nothing

It's not bold, it's not flashy, it's just simple, and simple can be great
Phylo
Phylo on Jun 15 '05
I do believe the heart is in the center of the body. However it is lower. But it should nt have to be moved left to be anatomically centered.

I never though about putting something at the end of the heart. But when i think about it, i think it might possibly be distracting and therefore detract from it overall overall. Just a thought. liek you pointed out, it was simple. I wanted it to be simpler than alot of submissions on this site.

I dont know if anyones said this already, but with that same placement/size, It'd look good on the back of a shirt like that....
