I'm not into the gun theme, but this is a kick ass illustration! And I don't have a problem with the denim shirt color. It's a nice frame for the art.

little_hobbit_feet on May 31 '05
The perspective is off (like everybody says, it's a 3/4 gun profile and the tip is straight profile) and it has nothing to do with the WIRED contest.

fix the tip n i'll buy it!!!! also it'll probably be better on black or grey shirt

Webbins on Jun 01 '05
Guess what? The tip needs sorting, the stroke needs thinning, I would have it on a royal shirt, apart from that it does it for me.

so.. ehm, did you steal this design then? Or is this a product from you? http://dooker.com/products/2003/flash.html ?

Looked trough your portfolio and couldnt see it there, I have seen this t-shirt many times before. If its you then good work. But I dont think it is you and then you just really REALLY suck.

jadis23 on Jun 01 '05
yeah, i know i've seen that gun and those tshirts at dooker.com before through an email list i received leading up to the 2004 election.

the graphic is cool, but passing someone else's art off as your own definitely is not.

Dear Threadless Readers,

My name is doug jaeger, I am teh co-owner of dooker.com (doug&johnny llc) I designed the graphic above. I designed it in November of 2003. I printed 100 signed and numbered limited edition t-shirts, that were signed and numbered by my business partner Johnny Vulkan. We distibuted the shirts to various gallery stores allover the US , including Stackhouse in Mnahatten. In 2004 wwe reprinted another 300 shirts and distibuted them in Switserland, the UK and online at Karmaloop. We have since pulled our product off the shelf and will realease more in the fall. If you would like to see the shirts modeled you can visit our website.

Why would you copy someone else's work and pass it off as your own? That's really poor. If you really wanted to find this design, then post it in your blog, not in the submissions.

I belive Squarelight is to embarresed to give any replies. Your site seems like a "serious" company, with your attitude of stealing others work you wont get far in this business. Take it as feedback dude. I have also traced others work, but never submitting it or publishing it as my own. Doing it as a practice thing is a great way to learn the tools. But as I and others have said earlier this is just a big laugh.

You suck! (that wasnt wery constructive im sorry but you make me mad)

Holme Hippie, settle down. I'm sorry I used this forum to track down this image. I've asked them to pull this down. After reading about threadless in Wired, I noticed the image with the lady wearing a sars mask (potentially stolen and definitely being reroduced in Bangkok). Between that and a friend of mine who designs for Exact-Science in San Francisco (his designs are being pirated as well). I thought I could track down the gun design...and I did.

I'm the one who contacted dooker. I want to collaborate on a broadcast design for gnn.com out here in Oakland.

I'm not trying to make money or gain popularity by posting this design. It's not my thing. My site is 3 years old, if you noticed the travel section, you'll see that is all I have been doing. In the process, making myself more politcally aware. So, thanks again for locating the designer and I'm sorry this is upsetting to you. Believe what you will...

Squarelight did contact me, and I am working with him on his broadcast stuff. I think its great that he found me. It sucks that my shit is being duped over seas. You all need to chill out a bit. And to all of you that think the tip of the gun is weird...I traced a photo of my hand. I shot with a wide angle lense, and didn't want the gun pointed at the viewer. This shirt is commentary on the american brand. It is meant to cause debate about what america stands for. Is it about war? or is it about protecting freed0m? The shirt was designed to be worn by the gun proud as well as the gun scared. It begs the question... what is america up to and who are we defending ourselves from? Cause we sure have enough drugs, meat, and sex to go around.

XO doug

Squarelight should be banned forever along with anyone else that steals someone else's artwork. If he were truly trying to track down an artist as he claims, he would have, or should have, posted a disclaimer to that effect. It appears that he was trying to pass someone else's work off as his own and got caught. He then made up some ridiculous story in an attempt to cover his own butt. If a stolen design were to ever win and be printed, it could be terribly damaging for Threadless. Permitting behavior like this opens up Threadless to numerous legal pitfalls and undermines their credibility in the eyes of the participants. We don't want him doing this again, and we don't want anyone imitating his behavior. Be stern and send a message by banning this loser forever.

hey dooker,

Isn’t the gun in your design a berretta (92fs)?
http://www.berettausa.com/product/product_pistols_main.htm

If you’re going to make a comment/ask a question on America and guns don't ya'll think using an American gun would be better than an Italian design (granting that Beretta’s are built in the US, as the military uses 92's)

Somehow I just find using an Italian designed pistol to comment on America and Guns Amusing.

And of course I’d take a 1911 any day over a 92FS.

hey mandingo,

it was a plastic beretta, thanks for gun nerding it for everyone. The shirt is not to comment on american manufacturing of guns. It's about american's use of them. It was what was laying around in my apt. The drawing was traced froma wide angle photo taken by me.
