As always, four colours used (cream, metal blue, light blue, & orange), and the line work is the dark blue of the t shirt coming through. Some of you may recognise my 'kid' from my previous submission,'Homesick friend', and he has put on a little weight. See what happens if you sit around playing video games all day...
Constructive crits always welcome, and good luck to all in the 'Wired' competition.
Well, what crit could there be? You have your illo style down hard and you do it well. The design is solid, the colors are awesome and it looks good on a shirt. So, on the design and technical side, you don't get much better than this. That leaves the question if people would want to wear it...but that's what them little buttons at the top are for.
I'm voting I would, but good luck to you! Nice job!
Call me simple but the message must be real clear to get the humor across cause you only see someone wearing a shirt for a second and then they walk by. I want to "get it" on first glance.
I love the robot's expression, but its way at the top, the center of the design, the screen, seems very sparse. Also, find some way to curve the shirt stripes so they matche the kid's body.
I love these entitled critics at Threadless who have hidden profiles and never submit anything.
Hoverboard - LOL, I can understand constructive critism when it's due but I do not know what you're talking about, I mean, come on man, are you joking??? If you want to get a concept at first glance, please go and buy an NFL jersey or a shirt at Hot Topic.
this guy is one of the best illustrators i have seen on this site. i hope that one day T-Less prints at least one of his designs. I don't know if this is my favorite of all his designs, but c'mon, print.
Robsoul - Like all the other commenters on this thread, I was drawn to say something about this shirt because I was so impressed by it. I guess my assumption is that the artist is submitting their work into a forum in order to get critiqued/find out what people think. I figured that in order to contribute in a positive way, I would mention some possible ideas for changes, some constructive criticism or things that I thought of changing. By only complimenting him, we may be doing Mr. Rocks a disservice, as he would end up with no new ideas or inspirations to improve this design if its not chosen to get printed, as seems the unfortunate fate of many of his really tight designs have been in the past.
As for my own work, even if I never submit anything, giving my opinion on shirts will further the chance that I will see more things I like, and increase the number of shirts I buy, so I can support this awesome community that way.
wasn't trying to single you out HOVERBOARD, I just find the hidden profile, non-submitting, self-entitled critics at Threadless rather amusing. It's good to see you are no longer a hidden profile and more a part of the community we are all addicted too.
genius as usual - I loved Pong as a kid, the dodgy sound effects, the ridiculous controller, the enormous game cartridges that had a gratifying "ka-chunk" when you put them in... ah yes, I have seen the future, and it was PONG!
