\\\"Brand New Day\\\"

The smaller shirts on the bottom
are other possibilities for shirt colors,
and the sploches across them would
be the color of the fan/sunburst
in the background for each shirt respectivly.

The text/foreground would stay black.

thanks- Bryan

Hmmm.. I think I like it, but I'm not sure I get it. Can you explain why the trees look like death? and why the letters have fallen underneath? I feel like there should be some way to express this without the words, but I definitely like the concept. Like the orange/yellow combo.

i like the colours but it would be alot clearer if you put the images on the smaller shirts. to me it looks like four different shirts. 5$ for pink/red

Is this for a band?

No its not a band or anything of the like

Yeah...iSaidIt on May 12 '05
don't worry about that
(like undercover self promotion)
its not for any band.

Sorry if it looks like 4 different shirts, I was just trying
to keep the image looking a little simpler, less cluttered.

And it seems i've had one comment
for each color scheme, so far,
which i think is probably good.

As far as "why the trees look like
death and why the letters have fallen underneath"
(which is what i was going for,
so thanks for that, ocean)
---I'm hesitant to apply a specific meaning
to the shirt myself, I'd really like for everyone
to have their own take on the shirt,
but i suppose I ought to ...

DONT READ ME UNLESS YOU'RE REALLY SURE YOU WANT TO!!!

Personally, one of the few ways i've been thinking of the shirt.
is in a slightly ironic light. It says "Brand New Day",
but the landscape is dark and grim. The worn and broken letters,
spewn across the choppy, possibly ominous horizon seem faulty
but are virtually identical to those championing the "new day"
at hand.

I think i'd like to leave it at that, possibly retaining SOME room for personal speculation.

Well I'm sure theres a bad out there with that name,
but thats not what its for. There's probably 100 bands
with that name, I just didn't make it with any of them
in mind.

i really like it. who cares if theres a band out there with that name? i'm sure if you made a shirt that said "sad happy crap monkeys" there'd be a band out there with the same name. or there would be eventually.

For someone who has as much "thinking" and "meaning" behind their submission you'd think the least you could do would be to hand distress your type instead of using a font.

0 out of 5 for lack of effort.

I don't actually know how to do that
in Illustrator.....

I always seem to have at least one person
announce to me they're giving me a "0 out of 5".

Forget about using computers for everything. Print out or hand letter some type and hand distress it! Use scotch tape. Tear it. Wrinkle it. GET CREATIVE!!!

I'm not trying to rain on your parade but when you're putting a piece of yourself out there, you better make damn sure you can justify your craft. Not just what it's all supposed to mean.

Remember, god (or the devil) is in the details.

Alright, maybe i misunderstood you before,
and i suppose i could do all that to the text, but i still
wouldn't have anyway to get into computer form.
---Not computers aren't needed for everything,
but in the case of and internet-based,
vector-drawn t-shirt comp, they are somewhat important.
---I still know what you mean. And to further your cause,
you may want to check out the monumental, ground breaking
old design made by none other than yours truly back in my
"MX Flash" period, as i like to call it.

I suppose another thing some of us (maybe even me too) ought to be thinking about is realism. Yeah, that would be cool, to have totally destructed letters and whatnot but there is a limit to the medium and the audience we have here. This isn't a t-Shirt ART contest, it is a t-Shirt DESIGN contest.
---If someone puts up a blank shirt, simply one of the templa e shirts with no design on it, it is art. It is (possibly) commenting on the fact that art may very well lie in the lack thereof; what makes it not? What if I put up a shirt with only a grey-blue square on it? It has color, line, form, space, negative space, it could have texture. Color combinations can create a strong mood, as you probably know. BUT, although we're really thinking now, now we're REALLY getting artsy, thats not what this is about. There is a specific audience, and these T-shirts are destined for commercial market. There is a limit to the medium, too. Most textures will be impossible to reproduce, due to the nature of screenprinting itself.
---So, when you say, "its not arty enough" or it seems too un-natural, or it isn't organic, well, Its not, and it never was asked to be,
as a matter of fact, it was asked not to be.

And as far as it being someone elses font, well, i did read the readme put with the font itself, and I've done nothing wrong, it even suggests to the use of the font in publicly viewed creations.
