About my design

Something i've been thinking about making for a while, and since i haven't been feeling great today i thought i'd make it.

no sure about the colours, is there enough contrast? i can never be sure...

it hurts my eyes and is really overdone....sorry

saltimbanca on May 09 '05
uhh.. according to the proverb, shouldn't it be "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil"?

also, this concept is overdone. i've seen it in the juniors section of jcpenney's.

this is a play on the original, it's not meant to be authentic just funny. i don't like serious tshirts, it defeats the point of wearing a tee in the first place imho.

if the colours are a problem they can be changed. that's my main weakness anyway since i'm colourblind, it's hard to tell. looks fine to me ;)

If it weren´t for the fact I´ve seen about a hundred shirts with this concept, I might consider wearing this.

No matter how many shirts you see, there's ALWAYS an almost exact replica been done elsewhere.

What you have to think is not "I've seen that before!" but, "Do I like it, REGARDLESS of 'originality?'" and I love it.

Great work Jaycee.

yeah i can totally tell you're color blind the color of the monkeys is the same as the tshirt, that needs to change. but i've seen this shirt in pacsun, jcpenny, kmart. its old and done

I like it... and I think the resemblance to the shirts you've seen in stores is kind of the point, no? Substituting "speak no evil" with "do no evil" and having the little monkey grabbing his crotch? Some folks are obviously missing the point, as I don't think you usually see crotch-grabbin' monkeys at kmart. I think it's cool. The colors could use a little help, but I think all you need to do is make the monkeys brown or something.

thedandybadger is right. I like this one a lot.

yes, the "do no evil" with the hands in the pants is hilarious. and personally i like the subtle look to it with the colors so close to the shirt color. if you leave the monkeys the color they are and decide to change teh color of the shirt, go with a brown shirt. my opinion, of course. :)

i think that the last monkey should have his legs spread or something so it doesn't just look like he is just sitting there with his hands in his lap

i was wondering if people had noticed the change or thought this was the "regular". i even named it to try and emphasize that i'd changed it, but hey. some people don't look i guess.

i do like the colour of them, so a brown tee is an option. whatever works i guess!

Love the illustrations, but the lack of contrast is a bit overwhelming. Pair it up with a darker color shirt? Methinks your idea on brown will be good.

I like the design of the little monkey's, prefer it without the text.. it's all implied.

Maby it could be placed on a dark blue shirt instead?

My history teacher in high school had a poster on the wall. It had four monkeys, the first said "see no evil" the next "hear no evil" the third "speak no evil" and the last said "spread no evil" I always wanted to steal the poster, which would have been doing evil... i love this shirt.... 5 and buy... absolutely.!!!

oh yeah, leave the freakin text, but i do agree with changnig the shirt color, then the monkeys and text would be easier to see!

yay for contrived and oft-repeated concepts!

The actual shirt color needs to atleast be a bit darker if not an entirely different color. I agree with brown. Brown and yellow rock together. And I agree with the few people who have said that while yes, similar things have been done, that that isn't the point. This is familiar enough to draw attention and it has that subtle difference that people may not notice, but those who do might appreciate it.

It's cute. It's a little dark. It's got monkeys. What more could one ask for? I don't know about the color. I am kinda feeling it, because it's got a lot of subtle changes and then a hard white area. I would have liked to see some more color opts. I think a lt. blue shirt, with the monkeys in a medium blue to navy, and white would be a nice opt for tha ladies...

Nice idea, funny... 4

I gave a paper weight hting to my friends for christmas two years ago with this same concept. the monkey was grabbing himself and everything. I think it's a lil overddone.
