A second try, friends.
Every cliche, yet better.

This is awesome.
Partly because I love haikus and partly because I love the colors.
the only thing that I can see that might be a little awkward is the bottom lip.. it seems like the first curve is too big, but that's minor.

hmmm, i don't think the word bubble saying haiku needs to be there, i think the lips speaking the five seven five are all it needs to get the point across. ;)

Definite improvement. I don't know if it's just me but I'd like to see the connecting part of the speech bubble on the bottom two bubbles widened a bit, but otherwise definite $ material.

this is not bad, but
"haiku" is not legible
enough to read it

<^._.^>

Haiku is necessary to understand the 5-7-5 reference. The illegibility of the word haiku enhances the thought process towards understanding the shirt. Text -- necessary. Illegible haiku -- good taste for subtle awareness of meaning behind design.

I do wish it was on brown. Or that the lips were rendered with some references to Edo style art (yamato-e)

sorry dude, but it can't be on brown - red, white, pink, and orange are my 4 colors. i used the shirt as the black. If it were on brown then i would have to put in black, and i would have 5 colors.

yeah, things just dont work out for us sometimes.

you could make the black spots transparent so that it would work on all dark colors. that would be the best way to have it work on brown as well as black and still only use 4 colors.

And you could shut up and quit whining.

Jake, I'm not even going to pretend I'm artsy, or know anything about designing shirts.

So I leave you with this message,

You're fat.

FIVE SEVEN FIVE.
And since it's haiku, I think maybe the lips should be more like old Japanese wood block prints, than a modern day mouth. But that's just me. It's still great. :D

looks too rocky horror for me

and by the way haikus don't have to be five-seven-five

I like this. On a different color of shirt, something brighter, I would buy it.

This one is a lot nicer than the original. I like.

I agree that it would look better with more edo-style lips - these are reminiscent of rocky horror. Love the idea though.

And lauramania - haikus do have to be 5-7-5.

Super! I think it's great looking Rocky Horror-ish. Making it Japaneezy would make it cheezy, I think. Besides, I think the American market is drowning with too much faux Asian stuff anyway. You want cool Asian stuff, go to Asia.

Oh my stars. I love it. Partly because well, I'm an english nerd, and partly because I love RHPS, and it reminds me of such shinanigans. <3

the image just doesn't really do it for me. but the idea does. i might even go as far as just the hands, alone on a patch of color. and the word haiku, ledgible, simple and small, somewhere in their vicinity. but that's a pretty big stretch from your idea.
