This is piece is based off a character in Kite Runner, Hassan. This character is born with a cleft lip and it is there as a sign of his low social standing, since he is unable to get it fixed.

I made a cover for the book for class; The original design has the type on it but I think that the blank face makes for a pretty striking piece as well.

I think it succeeds in being striking. I just wish the facial shading covered the entire face. Not saying to add eyes and a nose. Leave the mouth as the only facial feature, I just wish the top had the same texture.
