I think the digital pocket size music box is some what generic...sure its an ipod, but RCA can't sue for visual use of a Victrola

Love the idea.

off the subject, kind of,

would using the word "Helvetica" be infringing copyright?

not a copyright infringement. at all. it's a not a rip-off of the technology used for iPods...which is the only thing that might be copyrighted. Although I doubt it.

everyone is so quick to call "copyright"...even if you were to use the Apple symbol and write "iPod" underneath it, I highly doubt the Macintosh is going to sue Threadless...the volume of shirts they sell is nothing to Apple...they would probably just consider it small-scale advertising.

anyway, nice shirt.

no, they can actually copyright anything they like about the ipod, including the appearance, name, etc. This isn't a very blatant violation, but it's not subtle either. Also the design isn't particularly good.

wow, kemmler just has quite the attitude. i think its a grand idea, copyright or no

1. Nice design/concept. 3

2. No copyright infringement (unless you photocopy, download etc etc a piece of their advertising material or manual etc. etc. and use it as your own art) Maybe a Trademark problem if they have trademarked the look of their ipod, or the use of a lowercase "i" at the start of a word, but I don't think they have. Anyway, this is all common sense, and people calling copyright should do a bit of reading about it first. Besides, if threadless thought it was a problem, the design wouldn't pass the submission stage.

3. Josh Finck, perhaps it is a joke, but if you put your site up there, maybe you could at least include some content?? :)

ps, prefer the upright design...

Dear idiots,

Because it's an IMAGE of the product, and so long as Josh is the one who took the picture (or preferably, just drew it from scratch) there is no copyright infringment at all. If he was selling an actual plastic box that looked like that, apple would have a case. as it is, there is no copyright infringment.

Oh, also, apple could have a case with the battery charging notifier thing.

i don't know if this occurred to any of you (this goes for every design that could possibly have a copyright infringement problem) , but couldn't threadless just ask permission to put the stuff on their shirts? i may be wrong, but i was just throwing the possibilty out there.

don't know much about the legalities, but i'd buy it.

It would surprise me if Apple didn't get trademark/copyright on the clickwheel design, but I doubt they would exercise it. Bad press among exactly the people they're trying to sell iPods to if you tackle a guy for using the basic design. Other than that, awesome shirt.

good, but the back design needs to be WAY smaller. 4.

ACTUALLY...

I read some of the comments and no, it's not the technology that's copyrighted, that is PATENTED. The way the ipod is set up as well as it's general appearance is copyrighted. You do however, have a defense of it being a parody, which is probably what it would be considered as. If you're not studying intellectual property laws, SHUT YOUR MOUTH!
