The first of what would eventually be called a chicken hatched from an egg, but that egg did not come from a chicken, but rather an ancestor of the chicken. This ancestor was definitely a bird, but not a chicken.



The egg of course predates all birds, including chickens. i'm sure someone else would be willing to link birds to reptiles and such for you.



Unless...



Maybe evolution is completely wrong and God really did place the first two chickens on earth, and those chicken then engaged in heterosexual intercourse and produced the first viable chicken egg.
