He Who Builds Bridges
About the design
on February 11, 2011
Hey, long time no see/sub.
This could be one of my last stuff here. I've got lot of things going on, and I don't know if subbing on Threadless will still be worth the pain. I'd like to keep doing it, though.
Usually, I'd rather not explain things I make, but this time, I don't want people to overlook just because they don't get it, and also because I worked a month or more on this.
So, basically, whatever we do/feel/experience, it seems that the ultimate truth is that we're alone in our head. Sometimes I feel it really hard, and it hurts a bit. It shouldn't be so dark, though, it's just a fact. But sometimes, you feel, or try to feel that there could be real connections between you and them, you and me. May be that's just an illusion? However, there are people who try the impossible: breaking our intrinsic loneliness. Whatever the outcome is, even if it's in vain, they try, and nothing else matters.
Here, you have several people, alone on their islands (quite clear meatphers, I reckon), sometimes beautiful islands, sometimes empty islands, big or small. They're just sitting there, trying to escape, meditating, trying not to get paralysed being stuck on a place too small for them, hiding, wondering, etc. And here he is. He's left his mask, broken his house, taken the bricks, and started to build a bridge.
To sum up, it might look dark-ish, but it's just about hope and light.
So, it was my first real effort with a 100% pure digital painting, and it took me such a long time. Enjoy it slowly, like a rare Bordeaux, because it was made with a lot of time, doubts, experimentations, thinking, tweaking, soul and sweat.

Great stuff, I dig. Take some time off subbing, if you need it. But do come back, you know this is painful sometimes, but always fun. All the best!º

FRICKINAWESOME
Just an insane amount of thought and skill went into this, really amazing description you gave to this...it would have been plenty wonderful without, and it's one of those rare abstract pieces that looks really darn good on the shirt as well.
Hope you find the time to keep submitting here every once in a while!
