This relative of the stegosaurus featured distinctive xylophone-like plates that were both colorful and unique percussion instruments. Unfortunately these plates offered no protection to the dinosaur, and the music would often attract unwanted predators. The Xylosaurus is believed to be one of the first dinosaurs to go extinct.
