Robsoul on Jan 20 '05 I was wondering when you were going to submit something! Very nice, excellent use of color and a very interesting illustration indeed. I'm hesitant about the round shape (with ben day dots reversed) in the background, I really don't think you need it.
What's up with your other stuff, why the hell didn't "Powered by Mezcal" get printed, that was a great shirt. You should get this stuff printed one way or the other, start your own company, easier said than done though. I don't think you have to worry about any copywrite issues, it's a freakin alien with it's brain ontop of it's head. |

ctt on Jan 21 '05 Super cool illustration. You are definitely a professional at what you do. They are really weird on this site though and I don't know if they are into this whole look. That kind of hand drawn sketchy look is all trendy now and it seems like a lot of the tees they have been printing either have that look or have a bird or heart somewhere in them. The first tee of mine that they printed had birds and hearts in it and I swear most of the designs I have submitted since have been way better. It seems like the crowd here is a little younger now and I think Threadless knows that so they are printing stuff that appeals to that age group. Keep it up though, I am designing shirts for a bunch of different companies now both large and small, and a lot of them found me via Threadless.

Hey, looks cool and all but that doesn't just remind me of Mars Attacks....it IS Mars Attacks. Original ideas need to be backed up with original characters. If this shirt was made to promote the movie I'd buy it. Otherwise I'd feel weird about it considering it's not your alien.

reminds me of a simpler robt williams concoction. this is the type of tshirt i like to wear. i am watching mars attacks right now (coincidence or synergy? u decide?). yer alien does remind me of these aliens, but mars attacks aliens actually have globular heads /brains/helmets, yours is more like a mason jar.. the bg lattice makes it look a bit generic. |

Great illustration, but perhaps more suited to a poster than a tee. Also, the first thing I thought was 'Mars attacks', so that might be a copyright issue, but once again, the illustration style is very well executed

It's Mars Attacks, but who cares! I'm totally on it. Don't change a thing, hit the printers, and then your favorite burrito joint for a victory celebration. If you wanted to do a follow-up and really milk a Mars Attacks reference, have the alien just smoked the kid .

The idea is too polished. I don't find ANYTHING challenging about the idea. It's definetely good work, but I keep thinking that this just looks like some Mossimo shirt half-hanging off the rack in Zellers.

Yeah this is obviously very well done and I'd wear it, but I have to think it IS going to be a problem with copyright. "Mars Attacks" may not have a lock on "brainglazed aliens" in general, but this is clearly one of their characters in all the details, so if they see it, you're likely to have issues.

yeah, that alien is mars attacks, if it was a different alien (not the stereotypical one either) it would be much more likeable. also the round background is very unneeded.

Nice design but I'm worried about the psychological state of the artist. I think the kid represents an infantile attitude towards sexuality - perhaps the artist has a desire to be digitally penetrated?

Who frikin cares - the best creatives always crib ideas from other geniuses and I think Mr. Rocks falls in that catagory given the other work I've seen of his here - but darn it, I wish Threadless would print one - enough of the artsy-smartsy stuff! Anyone with Copyright issues, know the law? It is an original drawing, not a copy or a scan pasted into photoshop. It's called inspiration and the world lives on it everyday. Somebody give that kid a sack of 10c. I want to see what happens next! |

I would like add that although my idea was inspired by a certain bubble gum card series, it is still an original piece and idea. I don't think there are any copyright issues, and doubt that threadless would have a problem with it either (case in point: 'Neon Monkey' t shirt is an illustration of the old 'Planet of the Apes') Thanks again to all who voted and commented. About my design
