Cart Fate of Persephone
About the design
his is one of my favorite stories from Greek mythology: Persephone, daughter of Demeter- the goddess of the earth was kidnapped by Hades, ruler of the underworld. When Demeter went to rescue her, she would be allowed to leave if only she had not consumed any of the food of the dead. Having eaten 6 pomegranate seeds, her fate was sealed. Zeus, king of the gods trying to keep peace in the family bargained that she be required to spend a month for every seed living in the underworld with Hades as his queen, and the rest of the year she could return to her mother on earth. In her sorrow, when Persephone leaves each October, Demeter allows the Earth to die and freeze- hence winter comes. When she is happy to welcome her daughter back from Hades, spring arrives. I am envisioning this as a belt print background on Maroon with an 8 color traditional print on top...
