The Femme Fatale is an alluring and seductive woman who is most commonly seen in film noir. She is called the femme fatale, deadly woman, because she usually draws in men with her charm and good looks which eventually leads the man into compromising situations sometimes resulting in death. Some famous femme fatales are Rita Hayworth in Gilda, Mary Astor in The Maltese Falcon, and Kim Novak in Vertigo.
This design started out as one of the many retro ladies in my sketchbook, original. At the time I was taking a film history class and we had just finished The Maltese Falcon so with this particular lady I wanted to give her the stare and scowl of a classic femme fatale from the 1940s. The color scheme was inspired by a Redd Foxx: Laff of the Party album cover I found and thought was an unusual and interesting use of red, white, and blue. Enjoy!
