"akibnamedjsun" - it's Icarus (hence the title).

thanks for the comments guys.

it's a little bigger of a design that what

you may be used to seeing because that's

the size I wanted it. it's probably not for everyone.

thanks anyway ~ more to come...

This design is outside of this world.!

It's not too big. Small is for losers.

I was thinking Rocket Man and/or the Tin Man. I could have sworn Icarus was an Angel or perhaps even an Angle that would be acute if he was a she... My community college is not keeping me up to date, all apple-ologies. I do have a strong urge to seek my 3eb CD though. If that was your intention than I intend to claim you successful.

yes, it may work big, but they wont print it over a certain size so you might as well save yourself some time.

I like the illustration, just not as a t-shirt.

A hi-tech Icarus. Pff, wax wings, what were they thinking.

Well, guys...like I said, I really appreciate the feedback.

I've got more designs on the way - just testing the waters here.

If it's too big to be printed, then Threadless can certainly let me know

and I'll be happy to reduce it but, that's the template they provided so

I figured I could use the whole area... and yes I intended it to be big.

Flying to the sun with a balloon and jetpack (in a metal suit no less)

is a lofty notion. Not fitting for a tiny chest splash graphic.

Keep an eye peeled for more designs - soon.

Thanks again for the criticism/comments.

Cool take on the character. Making him 21st century.

fantastic drawing. the balloon kinda reminds me of the original winnie the pooh illustrations, the way it's drawn...or maybe it's just cuz it's a balloon.

I think it would be neat if it said in a matching, scratchy font, "Icarus". Somewhere, anywhere, just so people can relate.

I want to love this very very badly, because anything that is a reference to mythology gets extra points in my book.

And yet I am ashamed to say that I don't get it. I remember the myth of Icarus and his father (whose name escapes me at the moment - it started with a D...) and their botched attempt to escape from their imprisonment on a deserted island with wax-and-feather wings, but I just don't see the connection between that story and this beautiful drawing.

Someone explain it to me so I can give this a five? Pretty pretty please?

well, you just pretty much said it all right there yourself.

it's just a modern-day take on the classic. would Icarus

construct his aviary device of feathers and wax today?

of course not, he might construct some crude balloon and

propulsion system instead. this was intended as a commentary

on our civilizational plight - that things haven't changed as much

as we'd like to think, man still has the same desires and sometimes

vain aspirations as he's always had. just because we have technology

today, doesn't mean we're necessarily better off. it may be that our motives

are all wrong. billions of dollars worth of machinery catapulted into space

every year does nothing for the hundreds of thousands of hungry people in

our own country (no to mention the world) - and it's that vainity - the state of

mind that causes man to only look up in self-exaltation rather than around at his fellow

men that will certainly be the death of our civiization. we haven't changed that much.

while Daedalus (Icarus' father) had noble reasons for what he and his son tried

to do (as well as natural self-preservation), his son became vain and wished to

fly up to the sun. "pride goeth before a fall" and that's just what happened.

now, what will become of us?

or maybe it's just a t-shirt...

a steampunk Icarus with a hot air balloon. delicate hands and contrasting outline. neat. i'm of the feeling that it's just a shirt.
