About my design

by evan3
I busted out the camera and black acrylic paint for this one

just a dedication to my favorite Rolling Stones song

threadless needs some sleeve prints I think

Really like this! Very simple but the more I look at it the more I like it.

Awesome.

it would look better with a drawn hand/brush instead of a picture

it would look better with a drawn hand/brush instead of a picture

Also, that cut off on the sleeve is gonna look weird if printed.

As will the cut off black edges if the shirt is white/white edges if the shirt is black,

Decent concept though, just needs some work.

regardless on whatever t-shirt color they pick, i bet they will do a good job printing it if they do

I just wanted to try something new and go for a sleeve design, and they did not reject it for printing reasons so..

Awesome Idea! Hope it prints. 4$

I'm not saying it can't be printed, just that it would look odd if it was.

I actually like the photograph because it makes it look like that is actually happening right now. If it was a drawn hand, then it would not have the same effect.

I am not just saying this because I am his brother

5$

Great idea, maybe some technique other than a photo for the hand and brush? A solid 4 for concept though =]

@Bramish: I think the "how would it look if printed" is out of place here, as we are scoring based on the presentation. If it's chosen for print, Threadless should make his best effort in making it look like this. And they know a few tricks.

Great concept and nicely executed 5

I disagree. The entire point of me voting for something is to help it get printed, so I think it's perfectly acceptable to address those concerns here. I'm not trying to be a jerk, just giving honest critique.
tracerbullet
   tracerbullet on Mar 31 '10
I agree with Stu. For the most part, I think a design should be presented exactly how the designer sees it being printed, and in this case I do think it would look a bit odd, especially with the hand cut off.

Also, Evan, I notice that a lot of times you respond to comments on your designs with the mentality that "Oh, well if this prints, I'm sure Threadless can fix it." I think that's a pretty poor mentality to have. You shouldn't submit a design under the assumption that Threadless sees what the design can be rather than what the design is. It's not Threadless' job to make drastic changes to a design.

You should be submitting a design as close to 100% ready-and-able-to-be-printed as possible. If your mindset is "Well, this part of the design can probably be done better...but that's ok, because Threadless will just fix it if they want to print it," then your design obviously isn't ready for submission yet. Threadless isn't the creator of the design--you are.

OMG

this is the way i want them to print it

they always do a great job printing so why would this be any different?

I am done trying to justify myself

thanks to everyone who likes it!

@Bramish: I know you're giving valuable critique. But the thing about how would it look printed seems to me speculative. We are here to score Evan's work, not Threadless work in a conditional tense. If it prints, and it looks odd, score down Threadless. But Evan's design is right here on this page, not on a possible parallel future shirt.

Just my opinion.

I like the idea, but I agree about the hand being weird.

It being cut off is kind of jarring visually

i like it, but think that it would work better without the hand.

Is there any way to transfer the same design onto the back (without the hand) so it looks like the entire shoulder is unpainted?
allyourbase

Or maybe on a black shirt with the white area and hand printed on

This isn't a very original design and the fact that you think threadless will help clear it up is a poor decision on your part. In summery, i fully agree with tracerbullet and bramish.
