This design is one I have been working on all week, and I am very excited to hear what everybody thinks about it. It is basically a tribute to one of my favorite children's book Illustrators, Mercer Mayer. His artwork is why I am an artist today. His early works like "One Monster after another", "Frog goes to Dinner, and "Liza Lou and the Yellow Bellied Swamp" were some of the best character illustrations that I have ever seen. Illustrators like Mercer Mayer, Theodor Seuss Geisel, and Maurics Sendak were my inspiration growing up. Hey everybody, its me again.Make sure you check out the other view on this one. It includes a close up on the detail, and let me know what you think of it. All you Mercer Meyer fans out there give a shout out for the stamp collecting trollusk all grown up. The stamp collecting trollusk was one of my favorite chacters from Mr. Meyer's books, and I just thought. I am all grown up now. What would he be like now that he is all grown up. I figure he gave up stamp collecting, and took up the guitar in High School. Toured with a rock band back in the seventies, and now he is just kicking back with his forest friends, just jamming out. Anyways, I hope you enjoy it, and have a great week everybody.

great style and details!

I love the style and idea but there are a few rather minor things I don't like. First, the rock kinda looks like a tree stump and I think it could be improved. Second, the guitar and amp are as well done as they could be and look very organic but an acoustic would make more sense to me. Last, the mushrooms are too psychadelic 60s 'shroom style for my taste. But hey, it's your design and I dig it. The characters and texture and detail and all that are great.

I dig what you are saying about the acoustic guitar making more sense, but I loved the idea of the little pig-nose amp, because I kinda imagine the troll as being into bluesy rock. The rock could use a little spit and polish I guess. I had somebody else mistake it for a stump. The mushroom are a little 60'ish, but I am almost 40, and when I was a kid I got a lot of my artistic influence from my brother, and sisters album covers, and traces of that influence is still there. I am kinda an old hippy at heart. Thanks for all the great input. If this does not make it through I already have some ideas to improve it. Keep the great comments coming, they just force me to keep improving my drawings.

It may be a tribute, but I think this looks far too much like Mercer Meyer's original work. Most people who saw it would probably think "oh, a Mercer Mayer design", like such. It would be nice to see more of your own style.
