I've seen a few similar ideas here, but there's something about the mix of Tolkein and the London Tube I enjoy here :)
Haha cheers all! Indeed it's one for the Tolkien fan ;)
Here's a higher res image for download - http://www.mediafire.com/i/?zmjtnyolont Thanks |
Oh, and the file above has shows the updated map with a slightly thicker logo and incorporation of London Tube typeface (which in my opinion gives it that authentic edge).
Enjoy! |
Yep it's exempt thankfully - plus the Threadless crew are quite on the ball with trademarks after the Star Wars incident..
Stoopid hobbits... Why didn't they just buy a ticket and hop on the bleedin' train? A couple of LOTR geeks will definitely be getting one of these from me at Christmas. Print!!
jasmine - design from concept to completion was around 2 weeks on and off :)
cheers for the votes everyone, keep em coming! |
HAHA just worked out the code in the phone numbers...very clever! Good work on the key too, looks like you've put a lot of effort into this one - good luck! 5$

$5
REAGS!! Well done it looks amazing and is a unique design - hope it prints as it seriously deserves it! |
Haha oh man this is absolutely brilliant. There are tons of LOTR fans that would love to have this. This will print somewhere eventually. Great job.

For a metro map it is sweet. I personally enjoy the hard to read Old English style maps like those of Middle Earth : )
I love this idea. I wonder if you could try bring bit more "Middle Earth" into the design. Maybe try a fantasy font or old map coloring. Right now its just in the names, and 90% of people will just see a subway map and not look twice.

Loving this, especially how the viewer can follow each path and change at will just like a real subway map - tops! 5 stars
hahaha this is great on so many levels!
tesco - looks like the Mordor line is 'Under Construction' judging by the key in the high res 5 :) |
Reags, you've made my dreams come true. I seriously hope this prints as I can see myself buying this in bulk as gifts!!!
very different to majority of designs here in a good way, and speaking as a Tolkien fan it's damn fantastic! print!
Not much to add to the above except kudos to you for a design that takes the end user on a journey (pun intended).
crazy good design that's easily worth printing as the LOTR fan base is just as big as Star Wars. Even as a standalone communication piece, an artist/designer could appreciate this!
A must have 5$ |
Having liaised with a few railway design projects in my time, I can say that this is well designed with attention to detail.
opifan64 - this parody design is indeed trademark safe. Good job Reags! 5$ |
Just superb, by far the best LOTR parody I've seen across numerous sites and forums! would definitely sell if printed
5$ |
call me a puzzle nut, but are the phone numbers decoded supposed to read -
1) 'RING MORDOR' 2) 'RING GONDOR' If so, double awesomeness effort on the 'ring going to Mordor or Gondor' pun! Hahaha 10$ |
haha good stuff mate, would love this!
thanks for the hi res link too, seeing the detail and key (very cool) made it even more meaningful :) |
Excellent line and spacing work, well balanced and laid out - feels authentic and could easily pass as a real subway map.
Gosh print this already T! |
omg ok we all are tolkien fans, but this subway map stuff has been done a bit too often until now....
I'd better monitor the store, because if threadless prints this, it's going to sell out in less than a week!
Lovely work, I know my family and quite a few friends would appreciate this as gifts. Good luck with it!
Gotta thank these top fellas too for their ongoing support, even after voting has closed!
