I hope to be submitting stuff more regularly — real life got in the way and I was working on this piece. I really wanted to do the best that I could for Evan and there are a couple of minor things I would do differently, but overall I'm thrilled with the final piece. The blue makes it look a bit messy - I like the red. Although if the red had a little more contrast it'd pop a bit more.

I really don't understand voters. This should've been 3.4 or higher easily. The amount of work and the amazing detail deserved much better. Nothing to sneeze at like Evan said but I just don't get how this is a 2.9 what more do voters want?

davidfromdallas on Feb 03 '10 I, too, agree that this was underscored; however, my take is that just bc a design is insanely detailed and a lot of work went into making it, doesn't, at all, guarantee a high score. Look at Kenny's "The Beholder" or Pakpandir's "Four Horsemen" or Julia and Will's "Eye Eyes You" - all insanely detailed, intricate, and beautiful in their own rights but none scoring higher than a 3.01.
All that said, I do think this is a great design; just with a score attached that we've seen happen time and time again. |
