mattnz on Sep 09 '04 well considering the same 'people' who wrote the bible prclaimed the world was flat.... and on another note when galileo discovered the sun was the centre of the universe, not the earth the church put him under house arrest. So here i am just playing wth the conflict between science and religion.

Yeah, but in the picture you drew Jesus saying the earth is flat, not the pope. Name me one person who wrote the Bible and said definatively that the Earth was flat (Jesus didn't write the Bible). Believe me, I'm not happy with religious figures saying that the Bible teaches something it doesn't, but you won't find innacuracies like that in the text itself.

im not trying to rip on you, its just that this design spreads an idea about the Bible that just isn't true. I'm not an "uptight religious person", I thought the JC was a streaker shirt was funny, but this is different because it's based on a false assumption whereas the joke in that one is obvious. I'm pretty sure everyone here would be upset if someone was spreading false rumors or ideas about something they cared about.

I wouldn't wear it - just because I'd have annoying religious people at my throat all day (like the ones in this thread) Mind you I'm a strong Catholic - I just know how to take a joke, unlike many Christians. |

this made me laugh the second i saw it. i was thinking what you were thinking actually: the church tried to keep up the idea that the earth was flat (and the center of the universe, etc.) not that jesus himself said it. just a funny way to portray it.

There's going to be a "Jesus" revolution in design in this website I tell you. It's so predictable, because one of the winning design was on Jesus as a Streaker. The Ryan McGuiness in another fine example.

I don't think anyone overreacted. It's a poor drawing. If you're conveying the message you posted, I like the idea better with the Pope, as suggested, since you're poking fun at religious men/women, when it comes down to it, not at the actual diety. Either that, or I like the concept of removing the diety altogether, and just making it about boobs.
