I really love the idea... the figures appearing form the ink are so cool... makes me wonder about the story of the mermaid. Is she a siren that kills pirates or was she in love with a pirate? Why are they attacking her? Stuff like that.

4--If this doesn't get picked, and you want to try re-working it, I'd give the mermaid more clothes, get rid of the skull, and make the dark lines a bit more subtle.
