did you really "draw" this or is it a livetrace of some sorts?
olasnavigator
olasnavigator on Oct 14 '09
@fartfart: not livetrace, nor manually draw using pencil. I use photoshop pen tool and manually creating outline from the photograph for hours. then continue with shading and coloring. As for the snake, it was created with the help from my brother.

The bottom line is, talent has nothing to do with this. Only patience and spending tons of hours in front of the monitor.

And you will be scored accordingly.

@AdderXYU: I'm just trying to be honest, that this illustration was created with hard work. I mean the percentage of my hard work is higher than my talent.

I have a question: is talent produce higher score then hard work?

Sorry, need to add more description for this case.

what i mean by talent is : the ability to draw something like this using a pencil. Of course you still need photoshop or illustrator for shading and coloring.

and hard work is: a steady hand that can use pen tool to create outline from a photograph. The process could take hours or maybe just a few minutes, depends on what kind of result you want. After that, you still need to spend more time for shading and coloring.

i choose the hard work because that's the only thing i can do very well for this submission.

I like her expression and that she's in the act of shifting. I gave it a 4.

If it looks like livetrace, it will forever look like livetrace... ASTOUNDING hard work tracing out by hand, but next time smooth it out more (less jiggly line edges) so it DOES look like human work instead of a computer.

I am impressed, but wouldn't wear it for fear of having to explain to so many that it wasn't live trace...

live trace just isn't art, and won't cut it.
