I love the idea as I am so flippin sick of trucker hats (hated them from the beginning and just want them to leave!). However I am not sure that I would wear it.

to jconnoll-- yes, i realize all this. i think that's what i'm getting at, or at least the 'dillemma' i'm commenting on. the subject matter itself is intended as "ironic" while at the same time poking fun at that very same mechanism, almost paradoxically. the targets that i chose could've been anything really, if you consider the premise of what i'm saying. asserting something is "dead" in the figurative sense, by circumstance necessarily digifies it with a purported importance, whether actual or imagined-- by consequence of it's having had to have been deemed popular at some point. though admittedly, the realm of that whole debate falls outside of what each of us considers worthy of our attention as popular/unpopular, dead/not dead or what have you. i thought the trucker hat would do a good job of tangibly representing the nature of a sizzle and fizzle trend and perhaps better underscore what i'm talking about. plus it's obviously an item that people recognize fairly easily which i was keen on, since it had to translate visually. if it smacks of post-modernist rhetoric, sue me. it could be worse. i could've made something with drips and butterflies.

oh and i'm not "hating" on the trucker hat, honestly. i've got friends that wear 'em. they're not bad people. i mean, it was cute for a while. (for a very short while). but seriously, let's retire that look. for the sake of the kids. what kind of world do we want them to grow up in?
