I've been sitting on this idea for a while, and it seemed like a great thing to pull out and try for the Childhood competition. Since the design was about a girl who wants to be a superhero, I thought it would be cool to use CMYK inks to color the hero and make it reminiscent of comic books. I had some inkjet printer refills lying around, so I got out a calligraphy pen and started working.
All of the color and shading in the "hero" portion of the design was done by stippling and overlapping cyan, magenta, and yellow printer ink. The result is an imprecise (but kind of neat) hand-drawn halftone. All in all, I think it turned out pretty neat!
For printing, I guess it would be treated as any other watercolor-style design.
About my design
This was a fun project!
