Sorry, maybe it does read wrong but I think it still delivers the message. I guess I was hoping the visual hierarchy (IE reading from top to bottom) would clear any confusion. Oh well, design has never been an exact science.
Its just a collection of images. People have always been so over analytical about art. It means whatever you think it does, or whatever you want it to. It means to me something entirely different than what it might mean to someone else. Capitalism has replaced religion in this country. If you want to believe or have faith in a power that will definitey motivate Americans, believe in money. It defines most of the decisions our country makes as well as its individual citizens. It sounds cynical but by and large, at least when you look to our leaders, its true. We work harder than any country in the world and only 3 percent of our national taxes are paid by our corporations. It takes 12 million dollars to run for president in this country. So according to most religions, worshiping this idol puts us in a state of peril. So, 'save our souls', (S.O.S). I just think our government is hypocritcal to preach global morality when its so obvious what they really worship.
I'm not even really religious, but at least this sparked some dialogue. Thanks for the comments. Its cool to get to hear all this from other designers. Submitting to Threadless is always fun and interesting. Its cool to get all these opinions over something as simple as a t-shirt. Thats one reason this country is still great because we can say these things out loud.
