We are talking about ART and IDEAS here, aren't we? The idea behind this one is to combine line art with a shadow from a photo, to give the design depth.



I know people like a design with a topic here, but someone said this to me: "There aren't enough abstract designs on Threadless. Why does everything need a punchline?" I thought I should 'Think outside the box', especially for this theme. A winning tee isn't just about how clever the concept is, is it? I think beauty has a big part in it. I hope you think this makes sense.

Very eye-catching, I really like the concept. Reminds me of the bottom of a shallow pool, with the light dancing on it. I agree that this would sell well as a t-shirt!

Your absolutely right! Yours is a valid concept worth threadless consideration! The feather (all-over) print tee got printed. I think this one is good for printing too.

I agree with your idea, this just doesn't seem as revolutionary as you want it to be. Even abstract art needs some sort of balance, some sort of focus, this is more of a background or wallpaper. Of course, art is subjective, my opinion can only be backed up by what I personally find beautiful. But this means nothing to me, inflicts no emotion in me, all it does, as you said, is give a sense of depth to itself. If your inspiration for this shirt was your frustration with all the "topic" tees, express some of that rage in your artwork (in shapes and colors, if your going for absract), and then I might feel something. You have a great talent for drawing and all the technical aspect of art, something I can't say for myself, but you need a vision, direct from emotion to paper. Then again, maybe your visions of beauty just far differ from mine.

Not everyone has the same taste, luckily. And everyone has the right to express her or his opinion. I agree, that my design might not be 'revolutionary' and though I like t-shirts with a clear topic i just wanted to do something different. This design is not just a pattern, a wallpaper or a background. It's a design that reflects everyday life. Although my line shapes might look the same at first glance, they are all unique, like the days in our lives. Though days might seem the same, there are always differences that sets them apart, like the shapes. There are brighter days and darker ones and on most of them most of us go unnoticed 'in the shadows'. I didn't use really dark colors because I still wanted to give my design a positive tone. This is a t-shirt design and an abstract one at that, so it might not radiate the emotions that an oil painting would. But it represent my frustration, my emotions and my taste. I think it is beautiful, organic and in a way dramatic, but like the shapes in the design, everyone's taste is different.

This is by far the best explanation for a design entering this contest. i like your style, you seem to have a lot of talent and i love that water feeling . like something unknown, yet familiar.
