I believe that the "foil" and arrow are just there to show that the design would be a silvery foil reflective surface on the actual shirt, something that doesn't come across on this image (which just makes it look gray). Those parts aren't in the actual design, and as for incredibleblahs comment above me, I'm not sure how it helps clarify the image for you.
Unless you mean the sword was "foiled" by the pen. |

i couldn't make out what it was at first glance. so i thought that 'foil' was pointing to the sword and as you know, foil = sword. so i thought, oh that's a sword, then i looked at the title. and it made sense. it was just a bit hard to make out the shapes without looking at the title, that's all.
