About the design

Submitted by MarketZero on July 1, 2009

To me, the best pre-loved things keep going from generation to generation. As they get passed, they often grow and change, but the love grows too. I wanted The Treehouse to represent this idea symbolically as well as literally. The child has anticipated the treehouse for so long, it has grown larger than life. I hope you like it.

nice design but something is missing... Maybe have birds take it over and make it a nest. This is the best I can think of right now

Linds

I feel like something is missing too, maybe have a faint/distant scene of hills in the background somehow. :P Great idea though!

GregMann

It IS a great idea and I think what they're feeling that's missing is something to tie the "floating" figures to the tree and each other. It's one of the best ideas so far though.

Thanks for the comments. I actually had shadows and leaves on the ground to help the characters fit into the design. But the tree's shadow was so big that it would've wrapped around the shirt. So I scratched the idea. A faint background might've worked though. Either way, I appreciate that you are spending the time to look at my design. Thanks again!

good drawing. good Idea.

Nice mood and idea. Having all of the weight and focus in an oval at the top makes the design a little top-heavy, which is why people are hinting at needing something in the background, i.e. to balance the weighting. Some lower branches would do the trick, and breaking up the oval would help too. Bit late for a critique suggestion though, eh.

Good luck.

By the way, does your screen name come from The Big Lebowski? One of my favourites...

Yes, my screen name is in reference to when Smokey is "over the line!!!"

FRICKINAWESOME

I agree, glorious drawing, wonderful details and it fills the shirt so well with the placement, but maybe have three older generations of the family looking up at the youngest member in the treehouse waving to them, or maybe have everyone climbing up into the treehouse, from oldest to youngest?

Someone may have already said this but this reminds me of Shell Silversteins "The Giving Tree," only if you remember the book it's completely the opposite of what you're going for still, it struck a cord. GOOD JOB!

elemenopy

yard needs fleshing out... seems flat to me.

I like how the kid is wearing Funkalicious.
