This was initially a homework assignment to design a store logo for a bag or shirt. I chose a theoretical Bonsai Nursery store to design for. The idea is; within every little Bonsai are the spirits of the big trees in the forest. The shadow of the little tree projects on the large tree's trunk in the foreground but it also joins in the cascading tree line in the background. The dark value blue was from an original lino cut I made and then scanned and colored. Hope you enjoy!

i think that it's a nice concept but why isn't the small tree more like a bonsai instead of a small pine tree?!

yes bonsai is a dwarfed, ornamentally shaped tree

Agree with 'androseph' the colors do work very well together. I'd wear this shirt often.

Dig this :)
I too did a design for a fictitious bonsai company when I did a course years ago! like yours more than mine too..
I have to agree with Mutsu though - it ought to be more of a stereotypical bonsai rather than a straight up pine.
But then I'm not sure how that would work with the repeating trees you have in the back. Maybe get a book out on bonsai and check out a few different shapes?
good luck with it!

Don't you get bonsai trees like this too though? Because if you use a different type of tree it kind of messes up the message of the tree being connected to the others, plus the shadow matches with the trees in the background...... I think it's way cool

Great design! I like the title, but I think it would look cool if you got rid of the borders and blew up the image really big on a light blue T (same color as the sky). Just an idea ;P
