I've never heard it before, but I love both it and the shirt. It would be awesome as both adult and kids shirts, and the theme and designs are really nice!

i like it, but i would like it more if the illustrations were less modern. It would seem to go better with the time period of the poem.

I disagree. I think the style is unique and fits the feel of the message being portrayed here. It draws on classic cartoon styles without looking dated.

I just voted for you :)
I hope you'll throw a vote back my way. That would be awesome. Thanks! Vote here |
About my design
As I did research, it appears the version of the rhyme I'm acquainted with isn't readily available on the internet, thus possibly my parents told me an obscure version that involves a hunter jumping over a fence at the end. I'll include the rhyme below and you can tell me if you know it too!
But I moved away from the nursery rhyme theme as the image progressed, thinking the last character made more sense as a child and a female, than a hunter. I drew about 4 other versions of the last character (one quite contortionist!) but I feel this one best fits the mood.
I think it would be a nice children's tee/onesie as well... but maybe that's just me.
Here's the rhyme as I know it:
This is the way the lady rides, trit, trot, trit, trot,
This is the way the gentleman rides, canter canter canter canter,
This is the way the farmer rides, hobledee-hoy, hobldee-hoy,
This is the way the hunter rides, Gallop-ee, Gallop-ee, Gallop-ee over the fence! Whee!
