About my design

by smartkat
Pencil Illustration and posterized in Photoshop.

Simulated Greyscale print with silver metallic used as one of the greys.

Back print only - nothing on front. This is deliberate and is an element of the tee design - looks like a normal tee from the front but from the back the surprise element is that the wearer is actually 'clockwork'. Perhaps wound up? Perhaps winding down....

My 4th submission... getting better I think???? :-)

Not bad, I like the texture... not sure if it needs the shadow...

I read you description, but I'd still prefer if it had something on the front, even if it was a black line. but love the back

Thanks for the comments people!

hefox - I tried a couple of different front prints: an empty keylock & screwheads and also an open door with cogs inside. I also tried playing with just a couple of bolt screwheads. During the critique process, and also from the opinions from people I've shown, is that it was distracting and that the back print worked on it's own. It is quite different to have a back print and no front but I quite like this point of difference to the normal tee. Cheers! :-)

Yeah, the shadow is a nice touch, it's just a bit too harsh and not really capturing the essence of a real shadow through the key lock texture. But i love the idea and ancient symbol and styling of the wind up lock tho.

I like the shadow.

Cool. I felt it needed it to help with the foreshortening of the key. If the key was on any more of an angle then it didn't look right on the plane of the tee.

Thanks Wheeler - would be nice if you voted if you liked it - to vote you select 0 to 5 (5 as the highest) next to the design pic and you can also tick whether you'd buy it as a tee or a print. I see that you haven't scored any submissions yet. Thanks.
