Lose the "so why would you steal it" and you're onto a winner. Maybe a different coloured t-shirt too...

Just curious to see what the reaction would be to this. It's meant to be a thought-provoking question, not a stance against downloading music.

maybe if they stopped making protected discs that won't play in cd players or my computer, I would support buying cd's again. until then, I'll stick to the radio.

The idea of the message suck. But the desing is nice so i'am gonna print it for myself witout " so why would you steal it"

is this better?

walleyecreative on Jun 25 '04
1) you're going to print it yourself? uhhh... no you're not. it's not your design.

2) the message doesn't "suck." it's meant to make you think - and to get a reaction (which it did). music defines us - our personalities, likes/dislikes, etc. are often expressed somehow through music and bands we listen to. there's an emotional connection to music - you either like it or you don't. some songs just speak to you - you gravitate towards them and you don't know why. it says something about who you are. i can't think of any other medium that speaks to people as universally as music. yet we don't think twice about stealing it. that's what the message is trying to convey - it's not a pro-riaa shirt, although i can understand why people feel like they want to jump to that conclusion.

troninator on Jun 25 '04
that's an easy question to answer anyway. it's not thought provoking at all. you steal what defines you because you need it and you're willing to do whatever you have to for what you need.

we 'steal' it because that way we can listen to more types of music that we would normally not hear about, but can download.. and some will eventually buy it..

Music is free, artistic performance cost someting. I dont steal music. I listen music and I pays for live performance beacause I want the bands Iove to continue theire great work.

Since I use internet to find music, I know band I would not know even know they exist. Shared music is the best thing that happen to the music industries since music tape. Now that music is free, music really define you and dont define whitch radio or t.v sation you like to listen.

Small band find, good exposure and crowd at their concert. Big band sell less CD. Maybe some poeple are sad because Britney Spears sells only 2 milion of her last record ( fictive number). But I was happy when I went to the ENGINE DOWN concert in my home town and we where like 400 peoples ( 8 times more than the last time they play).

"OMG- F@CK you you worthless corperate shill"

Okay asshole - READ MY POSTS. This is NOT an anti-downloading music shirt. It's a question that's meant to make you think - that's all. I understand all the logic behind downloading music, being anti-corporate, finding artists you otherwise wouldn't know, blah blah blah. I get it. I'm not against it. But thinking that you (we) are all entitled to free music simply because it's easy to get is worth questioning.

Music happens to be very important to me - and it's getting progressively watered down for dozens of reasons.

And Cardinos - I didn't mean to make fun of you. I thought you were just a bad typer. ;)

RIAA, huh? are you a tool? just wondering because you act like it. but the deisgn is what i'm rating, not the designer. just don't expect me to wear this.

So... this question is directed at the major record labels that don't compensate their artists for their performaces of music that get recorded, right?

Well, we can all hope.

"RIAA huh? are you a tool?"

What the fuck does that comment mean? Can you really not understand my posts? Are you that ignorant? Read what I wrote before jumping to conclusions that I'm pro-RIAA. There's nothing RIAA about this design. I'm a musician - music means a lot to me. That's all. Jesus people... lighten up.

I agree with you in regards to what music can say about someone as a person and i understand that the second statement isn't a stance against downloading music. That said, i would still like the design (which is really good i might add) a lot more without the "why would you steal it" part. Just a personal preference.

If you don't like the "So why would you steal it" part:
1) Vote it a 5
2) When it's printed, buy it
3) Buy a Sharpie
4) Color in the parts you don't like.
