why is she smiling?

She is smiling because she is a little nuts, and she thinks her comment about emotional baggage is funny. I had sort of a sad face at first, but it was completely creepy and depressing. I thought this was a better way . . .

no text please, not only does it make the joke too easy to understand, it really lacks the finished polish of the rest of the design. I like the style of this piece a lot, although you might want a few more visual gags with the bags to her left and maybe take out the fish scale?

Hey you know, you're frickinawesome. Ha ha. Thanks for the feedback. I have noticed on Threadless that if anyone has text on their designs, people usually say, "Lose the text" or "you didn't need the text". It seems like the work everyone likes needs to speak for itself with no text or headline, which would make sense.

Ha, an octopuss in her emotional baggage. Good detail.

when the image IS the text then it gets pretty ridiculous when people spout 'lose the type' etc but when you see yourself using text to better explain your concept then sometimes that means that the drawing isn't doing a good enough job on its own or that you're under-confident about how the drawing is communicating the message.

ususally the title of your design can be enough to explain your idea to voters, which i think it is in this case.

I dunno, I thought that the text was good and is rather necessary. In this case, it isn't a bad thing if the joke would be too easy to understand. I think that without the text the shirt makes much less sense and loses it's purpose.

What I mean is, for other people who meet the person who is wearing the shirt. Not everyone has read the title of the submission, and I feel that people would walk up to the person and say, "why is there a skull and that hand coming out of the baggage?" I mean, you can explain, but that seems unnecessary here.

Thanks for the comments. Much appreciated. Perhaps this idea was a little too abstract for a tee. Ain't giving up just yet . . .

I like the fish skeleton, but the overall look and feel remind me of the cover of a young adult fiction novel, or something.

Clever and hysterical! I love how the suitcases clasps to her right look like eyes...
