About my design

by blackenedwhite
I'm fully aware of the blatant simplicity of my design. However, the idea of a solar-powered shirt (or even a solar-powered man) amused me to no end and I had to get it out of my system. There's only so much you can do with solar panels, though, without making it look kitsch. To make up for it, I tried to make the design a little more compelling through the clever use (or should I say abuse?) of the special printing processes available in Threadless.

I opted for a tandem of foil application to give the solar panel a mirror-y look, and UV color change for the graphic on the back. This is so the graphic would seem to "glow" whenever the wearer is out in the sun, or at least somewhere with UV light.

Now, if only solar powered shirts really did exist, I think it would benefit a lot of people. After all, who doesn't need a little boost of energy after working outdoors? It may even be used to charge mobile phones. PDA's, even heart monitors.

Oh fudge. I had no idea this was done before. I actually looked at all the printed Threadless designs to see if there was anything similar.

I guess I should have checked the galleries, too. :(

Now I guess all I can hope for is for people to see its relevance to the theme.

Yes... sure, I was thinking on that... you have a better chance because it make more sense inside the contest. Actually it dind't print... so, you didn't have to know it was there.

I'm sorry if this affects the scoring, but I had to say it... you know what I mean..

Good luck!

By the way... I like your pencil submission!

No worries, Mr. Santiago. You call dibs on the idea, having submitted it before me. I guess I really have to be more active in the community to be aware of the current design trends going on here.

Either way, thanks for the comments guys!

maybe it's been done before in some aspect, but this one (sorry) is a bit of an improvement on the old one.

still not my favorite, but an interesting idea.

Sorry it's been done before, both executions are wonderful. Must say for this one though, I like the idea of the words on the front and the panel on the back.
