4 minutes and 36 seconds of solitude
About the design
on March 28, 2009
This is inspired by the real 'first man in space'.
"On August 16, 1960, Joseph Kittinger jumped from an air-thin height of 102,800 feet (31,334 meters). From that nearly 20 miles altitude, his tumble toward terra firma took some 4 minutes and 36 seconds.
Exceeding the speed of sound during the fall, Kittinger used a small stabilizing chute before a larger, main parachute opened in the denser atmosphere. He safely touched down in barren New Mexico desert, 13 minutes 45 seconds after he vaulted into the void."

2 color print..the aqua blue ink is printed on top of the light blue ink and they don't have to align.

I like it, but some of the stars just look like bleach stains.

thats really really really cool!
GrosPlante
You'll have better chance at DBH with this one! Nice, though!

This is so beautiful. I don't know why this hasn't been commented more already yet/ scored more. The colors are beautiful, and the negative space fits the message of the shirt perfectly. I especially love the way it covers the entire shirt. A true work of art, and one of the few shirts that I would actually buy if it was printed. A true, honest to goodness $5 for you. Excellent job.
pearsepinch
woah, i like it.

FRICKINAWESOME
The stroy is fantastic and I like the feeling of this one, but I'm not really into the wash of colors on the bottom, they seem a bit murky. Still a really cool perspective and i like the character floating into the scene from the top right of your shirt.
Also, is slide 2 and 3 the same thing or am i going mad?
mathiole
very deep
i dig it on black
bcrider
FA, the third slide is a navy tee while the second is black. :)
While I agree that this tee would do well at dbh, that doesn't mean it wouldn't do well here; look at Joe's lazer-eyed cat and AJ's own recent print. If anything, this will be one of the steps that gets more seam-to-seam prints onto Threadless.
I love this!

I'd probably prefer it if the inks didn't align, great story behind it too, great design, whether its more of a DBH tee than a threadless tee isn't really important, I still give it a $5

Thank you all!
Yeah everyone tells me all my prints should be for DBH but I'm glad Threadless prints them too=)

i probably wouldn't wear this myself, but beautiful work! and if nothing else, thanks for telling that story, i checked the youtube video and was amazed. thanks for sharing! after seeing that though, I almost wish this character on the shirt looked more like it was falling than floating. but it's still impressive.
the110
Thanks thepants. Actually the funny thing is that you wouldn't know you were falling from gravity when you are in space. You'd think you're floating.
"A man in the emptiness of space would not be able to detect if he was falling from gravity. Einstein calls this..'a happy idea'."
So the design kind of reflects that. But the string/chute on his back gives away the idea of the jump.
Check out another vid here explaining that. It's really awesome!

I LOVE ALL of your designs. All of them! I can't believe that they didn't score higher! 5$ from me. Though my absolute favorites are "marooned" and "the ascension", though unfortunately I've only just become a member so I didn't get to vote for them. Incredible! I'd buy them all!
