Nice illustration and good color choices. I agree with wintermute--it needs to be smaller.

That's pretty damn nice. I too would like the image to be a bit smaller, to match the subject.

nice drawing. would work better smaller. 5 colors or convincing optical illusion?

It can be printed in 4 color with an index color separation.
icmedia
icmedia on May 21 '04
yeah, except threadless doesn't use index color separation. they use solid screens, which would explain the "no tiny halftones" rule and the "no more than 4 unique colors" rule. besides; it is generally accepted that 6 printable colors is the absolute minimum needed for an index color separation, and this only uses 5.

slopez on May 21 '04
Sorry ICMEDIA, but I,ve been separating index for years, in 2,3,4,5 colors. And an Index Color pattern is not a halftone, It is solid, but in a pattern. But yes it´s usually tiny. It can be made bigger whith a a lower resolution, and use a conventional mesh in the "shablon?" (it´s that ok? I dont know that much english)

The bad part of an Index is that once you separated the colors, you ´ll never see how it works until its printed. Thats because it cant´ be well reproduced by a monitor.

Are you jason norman? if you're not, maybe you should hook up so you could both work half as much

icmedia on May 21 '04
slopez; i have done index color patterns before and they are generally too small for the screen method threadless seems to use. yes, you can enlarge them but then they look kind of crappy. plus, index color patterns are fine, but you do realize that doing it for 5 colors isn't worth the trouble, right? it would be easier just to make that third shade be a show-through of the shirt color, especially since it's already so close.

i'm really not trying to argue with you, though; just follow the rules threadless sets forth and you'll be fine. or, break them and know that your design probably won't get printed. if you don't care about winning (like me) then do whatever you want.

slopez on May 22 '04
I´m not tryingto argue either, Icmedia. And your right about the fifth color. Or Maybe the first shade can replace the white in the head, so it can be printed over another color of shirt.

...but those are just technicalities. I like Fredless even if it´s printed in one color.

It's a very interesting drawing. Yes, a little oversized.

(I wonder how it looks against other T-shirt colors.)
