FRICKINAWESOME on Feb 11 '09 hahaha, such a well-drawn and hilarious birdie expression. Is he constipated? I'm not a fan of this design on a darker color, but perhaps light blue like you had it, i think the tree branch needs to go through a little more work to fit in with the bird better. Nice tho!

i say make the tree more expansive, but keep it simple. could even branch around a side? im a big fan of side branching :)

I really love the bird and it's expression. I agree that the tree needs a little more work to be on par with the bird. Also maybe put more of a bend in the branch to show it responding to the bird's weight.

The bird is perfect, but the tree is deadening the composition. Something more dynamic needs to happen with the branch. I was going to suggest the same as many of the posts above: something from the side perhaps, and a more substantial branch (perhaps a gnarled, knobbly one). The tree is static because it's on a rectangular grid and because the roots create an awkward tension with the bottom of the T. Whatever happens, it needs dynamism and a more satisfying way of entering the shirt. You might even try something that has lots of movement (more diagonal movement and some swirls), but low surface detail...

Thanks for the detailed critique zeropluslessthan. It helps to understand what has been said about the branch. My idea was to make it unobtrusive so the bird was the main focal point, but if this doesn't get printed, I can try again with your ideas in mind.

good job- because the bird looks so menacing it would be cool to have the design on a really dark navy blue or black shirt and use highlights to light the tree etc. Might look a little bit more integrated into the shirt-
