About my design

Hello!

This is my design for a tee shirt based on the traditional tale The Secret Garden. I wanted to illustrate the type using gnarled trees and branches and have hidden elements such as birds, keys and locks within the branches, and then have the surrounding roots and creepers reclaiming the words giving it a darker underside, as if the garden was taking over the lettering with creeper hand/claws.

I love the idea of using glow in the dark in ...maybe for the words?

To see the illustration with all the detail properly please check out detailed line work! as the drawing looks too small on this version to see the detail!

I hope you like it!

Awesome! I loved this in the critique section! I would definitely buy this for my girlfriend -she would go wild for the hands and claws drawing! $5

I like it

I think it'd be cooler though, if you put a keyhole in one of the letters and lay the key and the bottom of the shirt!

Good Job!

Hey, thanks for all the comments!

VeilSideTG - I do have a keyhole in one of the letters! though its probably easier to see on the larger version, its in the last stem of the letter n at the end of garden.

I love the idea of having the key elsewhere though, I know Threadless have printed a few shirts with detail on the inside (like "Two Detectives, One Crime Scene, One Thief") -maybe the key could be hidden on the inside of the shirt at the bottom?

At first I thought it was too plain, but when I checked out the link you provided, I realized that it's a lot more detailed than it looks! Nice job.

it's beautiful, awesome details! but the key hole does not work for me, even in the large version. it's just a dark blob ;-) maybe it could also be created by the entangled branches? and i agree with the key at the bottom of the shirt. then it would be absolutely perfect for me :-)

Stunning illustration, use UV ink for the key so it only shows up in sunlight like the story. love it $5

your work is very beautiful, but for a shirt it may perhaps be ineffective as the detail is lost.

I love this, the secret garden was my favourite when I was a kid!! I dont think the dtail will be lost at all, itll be pretty large when its on a tee. Its a nice change from bolder cartoony style stuff, its great to see designs like this! This is finger licking goodness!
