I really like it, but I feel like the text is too random? Maybe if he was holding a "FREE HUGS" sign or something it would feel more in place.

Love the character! I too would suggest taking out the text, and maybe rotating his (her?) right arm out so that it's more of an open-armed pose. Nice work!
