Akzidenz Happen...Get over it!

I could also edit the design to read "Accidents Happen" if not enough people are familiar with the font, Akzidenz-Grotesk. That way only the really typographically aware viewer would understand the connection between the coffee stain and the typeface.

Thanks for looking!

ginger snap

Oh no! You spelled accidents wrong! D:

weirdpoopoobaby

Keep the spelling as is. That said, I think this is one just for the type geeks... but they'll love it!

brentendo

really clever! I initially thought it was an attempt at a 'lolcats' type spelling, but nice reference to the typeface and awesome spillage

John_Page

I think that you could have a series of Tees. Coffee, tomato sauce, chocolate sauce, paint, a typographic mess ??? Those that don't get the typographic reference are out of luck, but as I use Akzidenz as my default, I completely identify with the tag line.

cyanidee

I don't know Akzidenz so it doesn't work for me. I don't understand why he would have rings on his shirt either. Was he a placemat?

whirzle1

I know Akzidenz Grotesk - this is great!!!

I think the rings are important so that you instantly read coffee instead of "I just wiped my butt with a shirt"

^ahahaha

lilmichief78

if someone were to wear this i would think the acciendent they were referring to is themself lol

Did you get this idea from looking at EVERY SINGLE white shirt I own? Because I'm pretty sure you did... bleach is my best friend. I love this :)

MEKAZOO

whirzle1

this should really be printed.

evalottchen

that's grotesk :) love it!

amiewhitlock

I would love it if you made another version with the traditional spelling of accidents for non-type geeks, but definitely keep this version, everybody seems to like it (I love the design, i'm just out of the loop)

Silent-T

You're sure appealing to a narrow audience with this one, but I'm part of that. ;) $5!

trillchan

Any cool cat should get the joke.

Befana

HAHAHA!!!! 5$

ratkiss

Thanks for all the nice comments everyone!

@eskimokiss I would never bash on Helvetica, but I definitely am a big fan of the Akzidenz. Although lately, Calibri has taken over as my default. I sort of feel like a cheater!

you isolated "AKSI HA." and denz ppn (my question is why. or is it just not thought of.?) u seem to talk as tho you understand type very well so i assume you would do this only on purpose...? so what does it mean?

i do like the style tho.

loremandipsum

The isolation was not to create an additional pun.

The break was mainly for alignment and kerning purposes. I liked the way the curves of the d and p interacted with the edge of the coffee stain and the kerning it created.

I also liked the distinct alignment of the k to H and the end of the line with the z and n. The contrast of the randomness in the coffee stain to the precise alignment and leading of the type was another important factor.

I like contrasting elements :) Thanks for asking too!
