My little studio often does placement graphics for various companies (Aéropostale, Bella Prints, etc.). Quite often they never make it off the drawing board to a presentation, or the client opp's not to pick it up. My wife (and design partner) and I are Tiki/Tropical fanatics and created several lines of "Tiki/Hawiiana" themed graphics. here's one of our fav's that never got picked. More to come...plus some new stuff. Gotta love the Tiki for summer!
AE/Aero is more commerical...not necesarily bad from a biz POV (try running yer own shop), but I do respect the want for non-mainstram graphix...whatever that is today. Thanks for the constrcut-crit and props. We'll keep putting them up here...as long as were wanted (wink-wink).
Mainstream? Try authentic...but I guess that's because I do my research (sorry, a bit of a retro/Tiki-file). Feeling that a lot of folks are a bit outta touch with biz, which is "designing+liking what you do=making a living."
Being art-faggy about what the reality of the "industry" really is sounds juvenile. May be I'm an "old man" but I see being a designer, illustrator, photographer, artist, whatever as a trade, one that I LOVE, do 24/7 and want to make me $$ so I can live and keep doing Hula designs to post on this site in my spare time.
OK, a rant, but hey, 1st amendment, right?
Keep all the comments comin'...good or bad, love to see them. Mean's we're all lookin'
