Sorry people, I do realise this submission is very self-indulgent. I just want to see this image of Ian Curtis on a T-shirt.
As to who he was, Ian Curtis was the lead singer of the group Joy Division. He suffered from manic depression and commited suicide in the early 80s. The remaining members of Joy Division went on to form New Order.
I don't quite understand that last post, but if that's supposed to be some lame insult/flame, it's kind of funny coming from a guy who (on his website : http://www.theworldwidewebguy.com/) lists Interpol as one of his fav bands. Anybody that knows anything about music would see the irony. BTW you really look great in this pic http://www.pbase.com/image/9504944
these colors for Ian Curtis seem wayyyy off. not that it has
to be stark black and white but that would make more sense
than the ravetechnicolors here.
also it bugs me to see dead people I admire on shirts...but
you'd probly sell the shit out of this.
I toyed with many colour combinations before settling for this combo. At first I had intended for the shirt to be simple black and white, but then I saw that this was too bland. The other option apart from the one I finally decided upon was for the same colour shirt but a blue print (to represent his depression). I liked this combo because the yellow makes it look like a spotlight is on him. Kind of like he's looking up at the spotlight/limelight.
i love this T - not only because I am a big Joy Division and New Order fan (not to mention Peter Saville) - but you really captured him and as eskimo says.. it looks like he's looking into the spotlight in desperation
I like the face but I'd go with a very dark brown for the shirt with the same yellow of the figure. I'd just like to see some more color variants to decide but this is a 5 as it stands... maybe a "buy me". Decisions decisions.
You did a great job getting the whiteout look of someone on stage. I really dig on the eyebrows, the slivers of light and dark to form the ears, and those sad wide eyes...
The thing that I'd try to improve is the mic hand over his mouth... at first glance, you don't know that he's got his hand there. From far away, it just looks like his lips are seriously deformed. There's nothing to signal you that he does have a hand in front of his face. Would it be possible to add in a few details of his shoulders and his right arm in? Once you see the diagonal of his arm reaching up to his face (or even just the outline of a sleeve cuff below his wrist - I don't know the source photo, so I don't know what he's wearing) then it should be much easier to see that his hand's there.
Working that in while keeping both the same stagelit look and the balance of the image... that's gonna be very tough.
don't worry i'm not talking smack. i like the shirt very much in fact.
there is a song by thursday called ian curtis, on their first album ("waiting") where the lines i typed above are repeated several times. i was just wondering if anyone would know what i was talking about ;D

Regardless, a hell of an image.
