the 'we love coffee' thing is to let you know that we love coffee. who 'we' is might be a better question...for which i have no answer. hell-i don't know what i'm doing or saying 99% of the time anyways.

outbreak girl was made from an actual photo. not exactly like another graphic. don't get it twisted. you didn't even make that design.

i made the stars from scratch in a vector program, laid them out myself, and changed the colors. outbreak girl was traced in a vector program, she added a little skull/heartbones thing, and changed the color. at least i did more work to make a derivative design than that artist, and outbreak girl is one of the most popular shirts on here.
and, fyi-i have never seen the image you posted. i made this from memory based on seeing the poster in a friend's dorm room in college 6 years ago. |

Look, I know how it feels, you make something really cool and then find out it's a rip. It's cool. But it IS a rip. I'd pull it down. And yeah, 9 out of 10 vector pieces you see are traced from a photo. Big deal. Draw something new and repost. |

As far as the poster goes, it was a hand-me-down from his dad...my friend is from Puerto Rico and I guess that poster was distributed widely around the Caribbean islands. You might be able to find it on eBay...I never thought to check, I just admired the strong, simple design. In fact, I saw that poster just as I was getting started in design, and it influenced much of my work in that I try to use stronger symbols and clean lines to portray a message as often as possible.
