People with a rather 'wrong' sense of humour.

I love it all! At a distance, it's a headless priest... On closer inspection, it tells a story... I love Clergy Gone Bad shirts... This one's very well done

Generally, I don't think shirts about bad things that happened to people, especially children, are very funny.

Blackstar07 on Mar 30 '04
I don't think it's meant to be funny. It's meant to tell something wicked about the supposedly holy. I think it should be seen. Dope, and would wear it.

How do you know that it's a bad thing? Maybe he's protecting her.

this shirt isn't funny because it's "wrong", it isn't funny because this is a worn out joke

Silly idea. Would you want people to think that you condone this sort of thing or that you find it amusing?
le_plop
le_plop on Mar 31 '04
Who's to know that you're condoning anything, or that it is funny.

As Crys4Christ said "How do you know that it's a bad thing?"... the only thing that specifically links it to anything bad is the title I've given it (which was my personal perspective on it). As a worn shirt, it's up to people to interpret it as they choose to.

I'm not denying that this is a very touchy subject, but I don't think that just because something is sensitive, it should be denied exposure. It provokes thought.

Some people may find this funny because of the poke at the church (which yes... I admit, it is a worn out joke), but who's to say that finding that funny is in any way condoning child abuse. Not I.

this would be be a case where the viewer is the one that decides whether it's wrong or right, which makes this design great

Personally I wasn't sure what that was supposed to mean. The shirt doesn't actually suggest anything bad. I think its interesting the way the jacket appears empty, no head, no face, no torso, just a collar, cross and jacket hanging on nothing. However at the same time it is very suggestive. Preist jokes are played out. I like it but i wouldn't wear it often. I wear a shirt 1+ times a week that's alot of exposure and explaining. It would be better as a poster or something.

the vectors are horrible up close. thought provoking? where were the majority of the viewing audiences thoughts heading? where did you expect them to head? what were the ideas in your head when you designed this piece "le plop"? i'm sure it wasn't originally aimed to be a "thought provoking" intellectual work as you later specified it to be.

"How do you know that it's a bad thing? Maybe he's protecting her. " is that your take on what the christian priests were doing to the children they sexually abused? the design seem so obviously pointing at this current issue that it reeks of dark humour, whether failed or not, the original intention is quite obvious, i'm sorry you found your ground in anothers defense. i believe you should just stick to whatever you first intended and not change it because people dislike your design.

can priests marry?

I'd buy this shirt just for the fact that it evidently provokes passionate discussions about religion, abuse, art and more.
Inappropriate Sausage
Inappropriate Sausage on Apr 02 '04
Another thing, this t-shirt has nothing obscene on it, nothing overt about its apparently controversial theme, yet people can't stop imagining the worst. That is the power of suggestion and storytelling. I'm sure this shirt won't get made 'cause there are so many provincial idiots hanging around. But to the artist, bravo!

i believe the shirts meaning is up to the person wearing it and if all u can get out of it is an idiot poking fun of a lame joke that is overly used than dont wear the freakin shirt...and who is anybody to tell someone what their intensions were in making the shirt in the first place, how would you know? obviously this shirt doesnt appeal to you because of the meaning you thought up for it so who cares, whats the big deal with ABSOLUTLY HAVING to disagree with someone, let people say what they want w/o having to interfere so badly....

...o yeah and i like the shirt, anything that gives someone the choice of interpreting something on their own is excellent...i would definetly wear it :)
