I thought it was crumpled paper. But then I realized there were threads.

ginetteginette on Nov 17 '08 i think the fox is a tiny bit too well camouflaged in there. i don't think i would have ever found it without the title. pretty though, maybe with some extra definition and shading or an additional colour this could work perfectly

It's a scarf! It has kind of been my hobby lately, especially when I've got time to kill, to arrange a scarf (or what-have-you) into an interesting arrangement. Sometimes (as in this one), a subject will pop out.

ginetteginette on Nov 17 '08 after reading your comment it might be even nicer if the design was an arrangement of several garments that were all sleeping animals! i would really really love to see this. especially if it is something you love to do i think you should try this out. (though perhaps because it's such a tricky thing to camouflage things yet have them not too hidden, you should put it into critiques before submitting)

I was thinking of colouring it fox-style (i.e, add a white tip to the tail, some black paws, and some white to the face). I'd been staring at it for so long, though, it didn't seem necessary. Thanks for the comments!

Ginetteginette's idea of several different animals in a pile is a good one.
But if you go with the fox coloring on this one, that would be an excellent idea as well. The fox is too hidden in this one, that much is true. |

Is "fox in the folds" a saying? If so, I'm unfamiliar.

After some googling, I guess it isn't. There is a geological definition for fold, and I'd assumed it was some kind of meadow, but it's apparently a type of rock formation.
