being just a one colour print, you can have your hey-day with colour combos. other than that, it's pretty self explanatory......

Hmm, Safran-Foer was also the first thing that came to mind - this design obviously has its own idea behind it, it's just that his book cover is really iconic so I can't really help but draw the comparison. That said, this is really well done and looks really cool. The typography is wonderful!

ivejustquitsmoking, littleclyde & kloii : the inspiration of this design was in fact a combination of:

1. a passage in Andy Warhol's diaries talking about how few wrinkles / lines waiters have on their hands
2. the saying "I have a lot of time on my hands"
3. funnily enough, the fact that I had a lot of time on my hands

This was simply a very literal interpretation of the saying, writing the saying on my hand and painstakingly illustrating my hand print through the typography. To clear any further confusion, at the risk of sounding a bit ignorant, I've never even heard of Safran-Foer but having now googled the book, I can appreciate the comparison that could be made. :-)

I know it sucks when you get compared to something that wasn't your inspiration at all - I figured you probably hadn't ever seen the cover or you might have lessened the similarities. I think your idea and execution are superb, it's just a shame that other one exists, because that book did get a lot of press so there are probably a number of people who would draw the comparison. Actually, I think FA's idea with the numbers in the fingers is kind of cool and might take this more in its own direction. My comment wasn't meant to be negative at all, and I do like this design a lot!
