this is my first entry for the Threadless Loves Drawing competition. i wanted to create a simple and fun drawing that works as a strictly black and white design. black and white is the cleanest and purest form of drawing to me and when done well can be just as fun and enjoyable, if not more, than the use of color. i hope that i have done it well enough to provide some enjoyment for all of you!! please take the time to check out my blog for a glimpse of my process!!

This is great for fulfilling the weekly need for cartoon ghostez and maybe it should print to satisfy that crowd. But I don't think its right for this particular Love's challenge.

Well outline, because the contest is centered around the skill of drawing. Drawing something in a photorealistic style is harder than drawing something in a cartoon style. I still like the design though.

whether something is "harder" or "easier" to draw has nothing to do with it
if you saw jared's blog you'll know he put a lot of effort and time into creating an amazing tee based on an original drawing (which is word for word the challenge description) anyway, great design. |

this contest certainly will inspire many different interpretations of the theme. thank you for still scoring this highly even though it did not quite fall into your own personal interpretation of the theme +duracell-. i can appreciate what you are saying in regards to the idea of creating a design that is more firmly rooted in traditional means of drawing and realistic representation. i was targeting more of a light hearted theme that would try to capture the imagination and playful spirit that many of my submissions lack. this is 1 of 3 designs that i am submitting to the contest and for my 3rd one i do intend to do something that is perhaps more to the liking of voters such as yourself who are looking forward to entries like this or this. thanks for posting your comments. i appreciate any and all constructive opinions! |
