The person's right eyebrow looks like it is connected to the hair, which made me think it was a hat with a brim. Try extending the eyebrow a bit more to fix that. I'm 50/50 on the half-tone sunrise going on in the b.g., but it might make it look less convoluted without it.

ooh! i really like this but i don't like the rays...
haha! omg and also have you ever seen the mighty boosh? koz in season one, episode one (killeroo), there's a guy called mickey the fist and his face is made up of fists... haha i thought of it straight away and it made me giggle but your design doesn't look him so don't fret... good stuff! |

I can see that the shame about rays is featuring pretty heavily here!
I havent seen any mighty boosh yet, though I probably should get my arse in gear and get on it. If theres anything featuring that remotely resembles the above sub, it seems a pretty exciting ride. Thanks again for the comments all. Have a great weekend. |

I spent a couple of hours sketching and then tried to ink in a hand each time I passed by my drawing table. About a week using this method. Probably doesnt work too well if you're up against a tight deadline.

I personally think the rays compliment the main focus of the illustration and the whole thing is frickin awesome. Oh, and the hair doesn't look like a hat with a rim, at all. Kung Fu kickin kool.

Looks fantastic. I would be psyched to see the print much larger on the shirt than it is in the demo photo and maybe a little lower down so you don't have so much blank shirt beneath it. Design is awesome though.

Just saw it, very very cool. Perhaps the thread is that after never fully finding boxing satisfied him, Mickey the Fist sought out other martial arts experiences, eventually choosing to retire to a monastery and train diligently in the art of kung-fu, eventually finding perfection and becoming Sifu Mickey - the Threadless Fist

Re method(?). A random concept to start with - sketched out roughly on an A2 pad - sketched a little tighter spending quite a while staring at crunched up/opened out left and right hand - did some rough line work with a 0.5 fineliner around the more detailed areas and then with an ink pen with a brush end for the rest of it - scanned the image and then put the colours in in Illustrator. You can count me somewhere in the thick of the learning process too. Its a good place to be. Almost over now, thanks to all that voted and posted a comment, it's been lots of fun. Im going to bed now. Goodnight. |
