About my design

Is there a more widely know symbol of Freedom, Liberty, and Democracy, than Lady Liberty?

The Americans didn't invent democracy. The Greeks did.

This shirt would work good in the US, but not outside of it.

Another thing is that liberty isn't equal to democracy.

id like to mention that the americans arent the only ones with the statue of liberty, so its not like using it on a shirt makes it solely american

I'd also like to point out this design is no more special than a shirt a tourist would buy visiting NYC.

Also pointing out: not everyone on this site is American.

Nice design though.

There are statues in Japan, Israel, Norway, Paris....

It's more of a global symbol than American, America just has the most recognizable one.

It's still not a symbol of democracy.

Well why didn't you put another countries statue on it then? Bring attention to another country.

@ Phiffer

All the statues are nearly identical. Some are look like they are walking, but since I only captured the face in the design, that doesn't matter.

There's also statues in Peru, Spain, Hanoi, China, etc.

I also found this:

During the Tiananmen Square protest of 1989, Chinese student demonstrators in Beijing built a 10 m (33 ft) image called the Goddess of Democracy, a tribute to lady liberty.

That's right, Goddess of Democracy. If chinese students consider lady liberty to be a symbol of democracy, don't you think other countries might as well?

Something to think about before calling it "just" an american symbol.

The statue, also known affectionately as "Lady Liberty", has become a symbol of freedom and democracy.

I don't know why people are getting so uptight about the design. I like it and I never considered the Statue to be a purely American symbol. What the statue represents can never be purely American or any other country because concepts like liberty are universal

Thanks SevenTreasures I couldn't have said it better myself!
